This October, MUDEC opens Matisse. The World in a Room, a major exhibition dedicated to Henri Matisse and the many artistic traditions that influenced his work throughout his life.
Known for his extraordinary use of colour, pattern and form, Matisse became one of the defining artists of the 20th century.
This exhibition looks beyond the most familiar images and explores the cultures and visual references that shaped his artistic language, from African and Islamic art to Russian, Chinese and Pacific traditions.
During our guided visit in English, we’ll move through the exhibition as a small group and discover the ideas, objects and influences behind his work, with context that makes the experience much richer than simply walking through the museum on your own.
