MWN is excited to co- host a screening of the award winning movie, MICROPLASTIC MADNESS with sustainable advocate, actress and model, Candice Lam. 

Candice is motivated to utilize the power of media and storytelling to educate others about plastic pollution, and be inspired to take action both as an individual and as a community toward a more sustainable future. 

With the help from one of our fellow members, Alesandra Amenduni, in translating , we will be premiering the film with Italian subtitles! There will also be a 30-40mins Q&A discussion after the screening with one of the directors of the film Atsuko Quirk via Zoom , hosted by Candice. 

In order to further echo the theme for sustainability and plastic free, we decided to do a zero-waste vegetarian potluck prior to the screening. It'd also be a lovely opportunity for our international members to mingle and share each other's countries' cuisines.

About the film:

MICROPLASTIC MADNESS, created by a non-profit organization Cafeteria Culture, co-directed by Atsuko Quirk and Debby Lee Cohen. The project was created as Debby's daughter refused to eat lunch at school because styrofoam trays were "killing the polar bears" 

This film follows a group of elementary school kids from Brooklyn, New York– living on the frontline of the climate crisis – diving deep into the root causes of plastic pollution, leading to elimination of over half a billion plastic foam trays per year in New York City and now 18 other cities across the U.S.
