As tempting as it might be to start planning your Italian dream wedding or next special event with a checklist, fellow MWN member Maria Del Campo invites you to start with something much more profound.

That way, you can create something meaningful and unforgettable, something that speaks to the soul (and not just the eyes). If you’re looking for guidance on how to bring a wedding or special event to life, luxury event planner Maria gives us insight into her unique approach.

Again we see the advantage of being an expat in Italy - because when different cultures, creative visions, and attention to detail converge, something wonderfully unique is bound to emerge.

It’s easy to fall in love with the idea of celebrating anything in Italy.

The food. The landscapes. The feeling of being somewhere unforgettable.

Turning that dream into something personal and seamless from afar is another story. It takes more than vision.

It takes someone who understands clearly how things work here. Someone who can make the process feel effortless and meaningful.

I know this, because I’ve lived it.

Moving to Italy wasn’t about reinventing myself. It was about understanding life more deeply.

For years I had designed spaces for others. Always on deadline. Always moving fast.

But something was missing.

Design still inspired me, but I craved a slower pace. A way of working that allowed for more care, more presence, and more intention.

And Italy gave me that.

My master’s in furniture design brought me here and helped me discover a culture that values process, detail, and time. While continuing to design interior projects in California, I began to see how differently things moved here.

Slower. More human. That contrast shifted the way I live and work. And that’s what led me to stay in Italy and launch Ca’ di Campo. Not to design just for aesthetics, but to shape experiences that are thoughtful, emotionally connected, and deeply personal.

To make it easier and more joyful for people from around the world to experience the essence of Italian life.

Present. Immersed. Free from the weight of planning.

The Power of Emotion-Led Design

Every celebration begins with a feeling. Something someone wants to live, share, or remember.

It’s rarely just about a date or a venue. It’s about the atmosphere, the emotion, the intention. That emotional clarity becomes the compass.

From there, I guide the process. We explore the region that resonates the most. Each one carries its own rhythm and emotional quality. The right place feels natural. Personal. It speaks to you.

For example, Tuscany invites stillness and history. Lake Como reflects timeless refinement and structure.

Puglia brings warmth, texture, and light. The region should not just suit the season or setting.

It should feel like it belongs to you. Like the entire experience could only have happened this way, in this place, and with this vision.

Once the location is chosen, we compose the rest of the experience mostly with local

collaborators.

Each artisan adds their own thoughtful touch, and step by step, we create a sensory

journey that feels aligned and often delightfully unexpected: the wow effect.

Whether it’s a wedding, a milestone celebration, or an intimate dinner with family, the process always begins with emotion.

The design unfolds in layers. Each one is meaningful. Each one fully curated, down to the last detail.

The Art of Detail

Being based in Italy allows me to design with presence and intention. Every place I recommend has been experienced firsthand. Every collaboration is personal. I work closely with artisans, chefs, florists, and musicians who bring depth and their own artistry.

Together, we follow the emotional tone of the celebration and compose the experience as one creative team.

This is not about status.

It’s about trust.

When each detail is chosen with attention, people can relax. They feel held by the process. Free to enjoy what’s unfolding.

From curated welcome gifts to immersive multi-day journeys, the experience is never ‘just beautiful’.

It’s layered. Considered. Deeply felt.

The Beauty of Designing Across Cultures

From Mexico City to Miami to San Francisco, and now Italy. Based in Milan, I bring a perspective that moves naturally between cultures. Expectations shift. Emotions are expressed differently.

What matters is listening with care and understanding what someone truly values. What they hope for. And, what they want to avoid.

Planning something meaningful from abroad can feel overwhelming.

Knowing how to read the room, anticipate needs, and guide each step with care and attention to detail helps everything feel considered and reassuring.

That’s what creates trust. It allows people to let go and be fully present. To enjoy the ride and the experience, knowing every detail has been considered with patience, thoughtfulness, and intention.

Beyond Weddings

Destination weddings are often just the beginning.

What I create goes far beyond a single day. The experience starts from afar, through every conversation, every decision, every moment of imagining.

Then comes the arrival.

The air changes. Time slows. Each day is full with immersive moments of culture, connection, and presence. Surrounded by the people who matter most.

Some come to celebrate a milestone. A birthday. A renewal. A new chapter. Others simply want to gather loved ones in a place that feels unforgettable. The size doesn’t define the depth.

The emotion does.

Celebrating with intention is a way of saying this matters. Whether it’s for yourself, for someone you love, or simply because life deserves to be felt, the experience should reflect what’s real.

And Italy makes that possible. Especially when emotion and connection lead the way.

If something in these words stayed with you, maybe it’s time to imagine what your own

celebration in Italy could feel like.

Every celebration begins with a feeling — what could yours become?

Perhaps it’s just an idea for now. A dinner. A birthday. A gathering that feels like something more. Start with a mood, a memory, a moment you want to create.

You don’t need all the answers.

Just a feeling.

That’s always where it begins.

Start with something simple: create a vision board of what you want to feel.

All senses are welcome in this process — the smell of a childhood dish, the sound of waves or birds at your grandmother’s house, the feeling of dough in your hands, or the sparkle of a memory you can’t quite name.

It might just be the beginning of something unforgettable.
